The Spring 2009 issue of the SABR Bulletin offered advice on getting to the JW Marriott. SABR Member Stanley Cohen emailed in some additional advice from a resident's perspective on getting in from the airports. You can read all of the advice by clicking "read more..." The first section of directions below (from Reagan National Airport) is from the SABR Bulletin. The others, for BWI and Dulles, are from Stanley Cohen. From Reagan National AirportTake the Metro (subway) Blue Line to the Metro Center stop. The JW Marriott is four blocks away on foot. Estimated taxi fare: $14, one way. From Dulles AirportThe Washingon Flyer Coach (link goes to the schedule) costs only $10.00 and goes directly to the West Falls Church Metro Station. It usually only takes 20 minutes, even during rush hour traffic. One can then take the Orange Line on the Metro to either Federal Triangle or Metro Center (13th street exit). From Baltimore-Washington AirportIf possible, use the MARC train (the Penn line stops at BWI, link goes to the appropriate schedule). The cost is only $6.00 to Union Station in DC. No weekend service is available. If there is no MARC train available within a reasonable waiting period, take AMTRAK or the Supershuttle (i.e., the "Blue Van"). I took a cab home from BWI two years ago and the cost was almost $100. I'm sure the cost now is well in excess of $100. On the return trip from JW Marriot to BWI, it may make time and economic sense to pool cab rides. |
